About Kozarska Dubica

The municipality of Kozarska Dubica is situated at 45° 15´ to 45° 30´ latitude N. and between 16° 35´ and 17 ° longitude E.

It lies in the north-west of Republika Srpska between the mountains of Uma and Veliko Pastirevo to the west and Mt. Prosara to the east. In the south the municipality stretches from Mt. Kozara (its north-west slopes) northwards to the rivers Una and Sava, which form the border with the Republic of Croatia.

Its western borders extend from the river Una over the Uma massif. The southern border is the valley of the small Mlječanica river, which runs further over Vitlovska Kosa towards the source of the Bukovica stream. This marks the beginning of the eastern border, which runs towards Licko Brdo (hill) and Babića Kosa (crest) and crosses Mt. Kozara, ending at the river Sava. As already mentioned, the rivers Una and Sava represent the municipality’s northern border.

Good communications with other centres in the Banja Luka region, of which this municipality is part, are an important component in its geographical position. The road system  including the Kostajnica-Kozanska Dubica, Dubica- Gradiška, and Kozarska Dubica-Prijedor highways.  

This well developed system also offers good road connections with other parts of Republika Srpska, Serbia and Montenegro. Access to destinations further afield are enhanced by the recently reconstructed bridge in Kozarska Dubica and Gradina and the proximity of the Belgrade-Zagreb motorway (30 km).

The favourable geographical position of Kozarska Dubica and its good communications make it an important border municipality within Republika Srpska and provide a sound basis for urban development of the area.

Kozarska Dubica offers a wide range of winter and summer activities, attracting families, those with a thirst for adventure, business groups and individual visitors who appreciate and make good use of the facilities for skiing, sledging, snowboarding, cycling, riding, canoe safaris, and paragliding. The historic beauty of the area and the many other natural features are equalled by the hotel and catering facilities.
